Note: The designations Apollo 2 and 3 were not used for any missions. Following the tragic Apollo 1 fire, the widows of the Apollo 1 crew requested the next successful manned mission to be named Apollo 1 in honor of their husbands. The missions AS-201, AS-202, and AS-203, which were important tests leading up to the manned flights, are worth noting but were not officially named Apollo 2 or 3.
